Homeowners and businesses that already have a solar system enrolled in a customer energy program, such as Net Energy Metering, Customer Grid Supply, or others, will continue to receive all the benefits of these programs. Hawaiian Electric is also introducing a new model in its demand response program that uses aggregators to provide network services in Oahu and Maui County. Contractors can take advantage of Quick Connect, an existing pre-approval program that allows customers who meet certain requirements to install and energize their systems first and then send information about their systems to Hawaiian Electric later. Hawaiian Electric has worked with Hawaii's solar industry to add new incentives and make other improvements to the program.
The company expects the Battery Bonus program to accelerate renewable energy generation on Oahu and encourages customers to apply for it.
